The Caley Glass is Half Full - Well Almost!

Thanks to many generous supporters we have now raised over £25,000 of the £60,000 still needed to complete the build and fitting out of, our much longed for, greenhouse to be built at Saughton Park Edinburgh, home of The Caley. Our aim of providing a greater range and number of horticultural workshops and classes year-round, by this time next year, is a step closer.

The first groundwork has even started! In the past month Ian and Cameron Marjoribanks of James Breck Ltd completed their loving restoration of the historic wall against which the greenhouse will lean. Our glass is not brimming over yet so please spread the word and join the more than forty donors who will be recognised as being a pane in our glass by giving us more than £50.

The Caley are looking to raise £60,000 to build and equip a glasshouse at Saughton Park in Edinburgh...

The Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society, affectionately known as The Caley, is Scotland’s National Charity for Horticulture and Gardening.  Operating throughout Scotland, the charity aims to educate and support Horticultural and Gardening practises for both home gardeners and professionals.  Based in Saughton Park, Edinburgh, The Caley already has a Teaching Garden, a Demonstration Garden and Winter Border in the park, and runs regular workshops, shows and even grows vegetables for The Garden Bistro.

Established in 1809, The Caley has not rested on its laurels and is still on a mission to grow.

As part of our plans, we are looking to build a Glasshouse at Saughton Park, to be used as an educational resource for courses (open to all) and a space to produce plants in, whatever the weather.

We really need the support of anyone interested in Horticulture and Gardening, or who just loves Saughton, to make this dream come true.

We are looking to raise £60,000 to build the glasshouse and equip it.

All donations, big or small, welcome and appreciated.
