What is the sound of this city doing to us?
Why are quiet places valuable and where do we find them?
What do we really mean by ‘quiet’?
Is noise always a bad thing – and is it always a sound?
Gate: Open Air is a creative community project in and around Springburn Park, facilitated by artist collective All Eyes Wide. We’re interested in awakening our senses to what these places have to offer us, and why they are valuable to people in Glasgow.
As a company our purpose is to create spaces for people to experience a closer relatiionship to their senses and discover why this is more important than ever in today’s world. So when Velocity were looking for someone to go on this enquiry into quiet spaces in the city it seemed like the perfect project for us.
Do you live, work or play in the Springburn area?
Springburn Park is a hidden gem that can feed our spirits in a bustling city. We want to connect with people around Springburn Park and your experience of it. Through these connections we will form a sound-based interactive performance event in May. This event will invite the wider public to take pleasure in Springburn Park and discover how it’s beauty and tranquillity can restore what is lost in the noise and bustle of the city.
