Come for a walk along Castle Wood path to enjoy the dark side of Caerlaverock, with our reserve staff and Historic Environment Scotland. Be prepared to listen and hear what may come your way. Shelter will be available at the Castle and at Caerlaverock Estate shelter where we’ll stop to gaze at stars and constellations.

Directions: Caerlaverock NNR is on the north shore of the Solway Firth, South East of Dumfries.
From Dumfries, take the B725 south to Glencaple/ Bankend, following the east bank of the River Nith.
From Annan – Gretna, turn left along the A75 towards Clarencefield then right onto the B725 before Ruthwell.
Castle Corner car park is sign-posted Caerlaverock National Nature Reserve. The car park at Castle Corner has a 2.1m height restriction barrier.
