As part of the MyParkScotland project we were pleased to offer 2 fundraising taster sessions for Friends of Parks Groups in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
This was a taster session based on the Resrourcing Scotland’s Heritage Introduction to Fundraising course looking at the different funding sources that are available and how to make “the ask”.
The first session took place at the Virgin Money Lounge on Queens Street in Glasgow and we were pleased to welcome a packed house of 18 people from 10 different Friends groups. It was really interesting for us (and the groups) to share experiences of where funding has been sourced from and what opportunities had not been accessed….yet!!
A mere 2 days later we ran the session at the Central Library in Edinburgh with another packed house, with 16 people representing 11 Friends groups from across the city. Again sharing information was key with lots of groups discovering they had been through similar experiences when trying to secure funding.
There was a real interest in both sessions in approaching local businesses to donate and support the work of organisations.
A key part of the session was to work up project ideas that could be pitched to funders, there were come great project ideas that we will keep people up to date with on MyParkScotland.
