This May Bank Holiday saw MyParkScotland celebrating 2 years of the website being live and supporting parks and greenspace projects across Scotland.
It has been a really hectic two years with listing 40 crowdfund projects on the site which have received nearly 100 donations. Last year also saw the introduction of TEXT giving to MyParkScotland making it even easier to donate to projects. As we are a registered charity donors are encouraged to Gift Aid their donations to increase the value even further, currently over 70% of all project donations include Gift Aid. This helps to not only support projects looking for funding but also to start to build a parks endowment for future generations.
There has been a great variety of projects that have been listed on MyParkScotland including the West Boathouse Renovation at Glasgow Green , floating islands on Hogganfield Loch – Glasgow , bat boxes in Figgate Park – Edinburgh, path improvements with parkrun in Callendar Park – Falkirk and supporting a B-listed Granton Castle Walled Garden – Edinburgh. Take a look at the MyParkParkProjects currently looking for support.
Along with raising project funds the last 2 years has seen an increase in the number of parks listed on MyParkScotland, every park has it’s page with unique information about the park to help people discover parks across Scotland. When the site was launched in May 2015 there was a complete listing of parks in Edinburgh and Glasgow. There are now 400 parks on the MyParkScotland site including parks in Falkirk, Fife and SNH National Nature Reservses across Scotland. Work is ongoing to increase the number of parks listed with the aim of hitting 500 by the end of June.
Finally we at MyParkScotland would like to thank all the Friends groups, Council staff and other partners who have been supportive over the last two years and we look forward to carrying on working to support parks and greenspaces across Scotland!!
