Partnership brings new opportunities for parks and greenspaces in Falkirk
Falkirk Council and Falkirk Community Trust have joined forces with MyParkScotland to help local people and visitors discover, enjoy and support Falkirk’s wonderful parks and greenspaces.
A new MyParkFalkirk website (http://www.mypark.scot/falkirk) gives details of all the activities and facilities available at each location and lists events, stories and explains how you can help get involved. The first tranche of 14 parks and greenspaces has been launched on the MyParkScotland website. More parks and greenspaces will be added to the website in the coming months.
The website also provides a crowdfunding platform that allows local residents and businesses to support improvements led by community groups and other local groups safely.
Richard Broadley, manager of the Council’s Planning and Environment Unit said: “MyParkScotland is a first for the Falkirk Council area. It is another tool to help promote and improve the parks and other green spaces in the Falkirk Council area. More importantly, this innovative initiative will help community led parks projects generate the resources they need through crowd funding. With more parks being added all the time, I would encourage anyone with an interest in their local parks to visit the website to discover what MyParkScotland can do for them and their local park.”
Local groups are encouraged to complete a simple online form to share information about events and activities happening in parks and greenspaces across Falkirk so that more people can get out and about this summer. People can also share their park stories and ideas for how their local space could be improved.
Ian Goodman, MyParkScotland Project Manager said: “MyParkScotland isn’t just a super information website, it also provides a new way for everyone who loves the Falkirk Council area’s parks and open spaces to support our treasured parks.”
MyParkScotland (www.mypark.scot) is Scotland’s only crowdfunding platform specifically for parks and greenspace projects. It provides a safe and easy way for individuals and businesses to make donations to support park improvement projects led by Friends of Parks and other local groups.
MyParkScotland was developed by social enterprise greenspace scotland and supported as part of the Nesta and Heritage Lottery Fund Rethinking Parks Initiative which is exploring new ways to use, manage and make the most of the UK’s public parks.
