This story is about: Alexandra Park, Glasgow

As a kid going to the park was such a big deal.
You didn’t just go for an hour, you went for the whole day and your mammy took a picnic and a blanket. Amongst running, climbing trees, playing on the swings and whizzing down the slides and queue for the boats was amazing. All the kids were so excited and fidgety waiting their turn.
Then when you got on the boat, bliss!!! The freedom you felt and to venture right to the middle of the pond – only daredevils did that! Ha ha The only downside was the call “number 4 your time’s up!”
You’d pretend you couldn’t hear the attendant and keep rowing, then you’d hear the whistle – ” number 4 get back in!” Deflated and defeated you’d row back to the wee hut deliberately taking your time.
