Cardowan Moss Local Nature Reserve is a raised bog which can be explored and enjoyed via a network of paths. A host of water-loving plants grow here amongst heather and moor-grass, especially bog cotton with its attractive white ‘cotton’ heads in summer.
Water voles, butterflies, dragonflies, frogs and toads are all attracted to the patchwork of ponds and marshes, and there is plenty of bird life to look out for too.
Cardowan Moss Local Nature Reserve lies within the Seven Lochs Wetland Park.
