Lade Braes is an historic greenspace following the Kinness Burn. It was gifted to the people of the town by former provosts. There used to be made mills along the burn. The greenspace is great place to go for a walk in the town and there are good paths along the river.
Its character varies from open hillsides, woodland, wildflower field and amenity greenspace. There are formal paths and muddy desire lines. Three bridges provide connections over the watercourses. A pictish burial ground on Hallows Hill is also part of the greenspace. There are standard trees, plantation conifer woodland and semi natural woodland, which creates a diverse character.
