Park information

Malls Mire is an attractive area of mixed woodland and wetland habitat with a good path network covering 8.3 hectares, situated between Toryglen and Rutherglen. It was designated an L-SINC (Local Site of Importance for Nature Conservation) in 1992, in recognition of its regional importance as a wetland site.  It was the first community woodland in Glasgow and became a Local Nature Reserve in 2015. There are regular sightings of deer, foxes, kestrels and sparrowhawks, and the wildflower meadows attract a variety of butterflies and other pollinators.

Urban Roots has been involved in managing the woods since 2009 with the aim of making it a better place for wildlife and a better place for people. We run weekly volunteer sessions, carry out improvements such as installing access paths, biodiversity work and deliver a broad programme of activities for local children and adults.

Visit our website for more information about what’s on & and volunteering opportunities https://www.urbanroots.org.uk/community-woodland/

Monday-Friday, 8am – 6pm, accessible toilets in both Toryglen Community Base & Toryglen Community Hall.
