The common is a large exposed, open space on the edge of the village. The park occupies level ground next to the foreshore of the Tay estuary and this defines it’s landscape character with panoramic views across to Broughty Ferry, Budden Ness and along the coast to Tentsmuir.
The coastal cyclepath runs through the site connecting the village to Tentsmuir. The space is physically divided by a caravan park and the fences around Tayport Football Club. Facilities comprise, play parks, football pitches, pond, car parks, recycling facilities, bmx track, Tayport Football Club pitch, changing rooms and stand. The pond, originally ornamental has been softened with planting and artificial islands and is an attractive feature with wildfowl.
