Thank you to everyone who donated to this fund. We’re now collecting via our new campaign Callendar Park Central Play Structure Replacement and really appreciate your continued support.
The new junior equipment was installed last summer and the natural play trail is going in this autumn
You told us you wanted more to do with your kids in Callendar Park so we’ve been working hard to fundraise for improvements to both the original play area at Castle Callendar and also a new exciting Natural Play trail throughout the park which adults and children can use together. We’ve been talking to children from the local schools to find out what they enjoy doing outside and using this to design a special play trail for Callendar Park which will help make your families visit really memorable and exciting.
So far local people voted our project the winner of the Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ award in local stores which has released twelve thousand pounds to improve the junior zone in Castle Callendar. Falkirk Environment Trust have generously donated thirty thousand pounds for the first phase of the Natural Play Trail and The Robert Barr Charitable Trust have supported the project by matching this amount. We’re nearly there but…
…we need your support to raise the final £600 which will link Castle Callendar and the Natural Play Trail together with a item of play equipment custom designed especially for our much loved park. This final piece will connect the existing popular traditional play area with the new adventure play trail, encouraging visitors to the park to branch out and explore the site together. Public donations would allow us to put the final piece of the puzzle in place so we’re asking current park users and local business’s to give whatever they can between now and the end of September 2016 when we hope to start work on site.
The play project at Callendar Park will give families in Falkirk a chance to get active and have fun outdoors together, securing a better future for everyone. We hope you enjoy the park and will help us make this a reality. If you bring kids or grandkids to the park why not donate an amount which matches their age? Or if you’ve been coming to the park for years let us know how long you’ve loved Callendar Park for by donating a pound for every year you’ve enjoyed the site?
We’ve listed some suggested donations but if the exact amount you wish to donate is not listed on this page then please visit the Donate to a park page, choose Park Fund and then type a message starting with "Callendar Play" in the Why did you want to support this park/city fund? field.
You can now donate to Callendar Park Play project by TEXT. Just text the project code (FCTC47) plus an amount to 70070 – for example: 'FCTC47 £5' to donate £5. If you wish to Gift Aid your donation please REPLY to the Gift Aid text.
FAQs
Thanks for your question Roy.
We have just heard back from Falkirk Community Trust who say that the equipment has been chosen following consultation with a range of pupils of different ages from the local primary schools which surround the park.

Updates
MyParkScotland provides a safe and easy way to make a donation to support this great project.
To make a donation, click on ‘Support Now’ and select your choice of Gift Level. If you are a UK tax payer, selecting a Level which includes Gift Aid means that we can top up your donation at no extra cost to you. Adding Gift Aid typically means that your online donation of, for example, £10 becomes a park investment of £11.53 (after paying platform and management fees). You need to provide your address to enable us to claim Gift Aid.
Gift Aid is a Government scheme which allows charities to increase the value of donations made to them. Gift Aid makes a huge difference to small charities and local organisations, but if they aren’t registered with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator and HMRC, they can’t claim Gift Aid (and many that could claim Gift Aid don’t because they find the process too complicated). At MyParkScotland, we take care of the claim process on eligible donations, so that the Friends and community groups can concentrate on the great work they do in our parks.
We use PayPal to manage online donations and they charge a small platform fee for handling donations. We work hard to keep our fees as low as possible to make sure that as much of each donation as possible is invested in our parks. For donations without Gift Aid, at least 92% of your donation is invested in parks. MyParkScotland is a not-for-profit registered Scottish charity (No. SC045424) and any fees taken go towards covering essential operating costs.
You can find out more information about Gift Aid and MyParkScotland fees in the main Small Print section.
