The Southern Necropolis gatehouse entrance is a unique and iconic building, designed by prominent architect Charles Wilson. Built back in 1848, the A Listed building has survived two world wars, the redevelopment of the surrounding Gorbals area, and the demolition of two nearby high-rise flats on Caledonia Road.
Present condition of the gatehouse roof has contributed to water entering the building, and if allowed to continue, will lead to further damage and deterioration of the stonework and structure.
We are pleased to launch the project for Southern Necropolis gatehouse to raise £12,500 to halt further damage to the building.
